Stefan Hoenow

Venture Developer

Prior to joining Apollo, Stefan completed his PhD in immunology at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany, where he sought to elucidate the underlying mechanism of monocyte activation in bacterial and parasitic infection models. At Apollo, he uses his scientific background to develop projects and design experiments to understand various aspects of aging, specializing in the aging immune system and identifying models to test molecular interventions. Stefan also holds a Master's degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry and is therefore very interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms behind aging and how to counteract them. His practical and administrative experience is reflected in his participation in the collaborative research project CRC841 and his certification by the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Association.
