With a PhD in Genetics of Longevity from the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing in Cologne, Sophie has focussed her research on the mechanisms of ageing. Her work was supported by a three-year fellowship from the Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research.
Before her doctorate, she earned a Master's in Bioscience from University College London, where she conducted research at the Institute of Healthy Ageing. As a top Dutch student, she was awarded two national grants to support her studies. Sophie holds a BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Utrecht University.
