Dr. Marianne Mertens

  • Marianne joined Apollo as a Partner in 2021 and represents the fund on the boards of HAYA Therapeutics, Auron Therapeutics, and Cleara Therapeutics. She also serves as CEO and Board Director at Booster Therapeutics and led Apollo’s investment in Therini Bio.
  • She has more than ten years of experience in the life sciences industry, spanning venture investing, strategy consulting, and research. She previously led investments in several life sciences companies, including Cardior Therapeutics (acquired by Novo Nordisk), Confo Therapeutics (licensing agreement with Eli Lilly), and ImCheck Therapeutics. She held roles as a Principal at Wellington Partners and as an Investment Manager at HTGF, representing investors at the board level.
  • Before joining the life sciences team at High-Tech Gründerfonds, she worked as a management consultant, supporting pharmaceutical and medical technology companies.
  • Marianne obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees with distinction in Biotechnology from RWTH Aachen University and The Scripps Research Institute. She conducted her PhD research on molecular imaging of cardiac regenerative medicines, and her work has been recognized with several awards.
